Food, Hunger and Wastage

More than 800 million people are hungry in the present day world. Yearly around 400 billion dollars are spent for disposal of wastage including one-third (1/3) of food production in the world. This one-third (1/3) of food wasted, could be saved to reduce hunger.

Food wastage is the food discarded by people and usually left uneaten. It is then thrown away. Wastage causes problems for economy and environment. Unfortunately the quantity of food wastage is increasing.

People can care to reduce it. However, more care is needed in eating and not eating at eateries, events, festivals and gatherings, because a lot of food is wasted at such events. At festivals and other such occasions, food can be saved for the people who cannot get or afford sufficient food because of any reasons. It is estimated that food production in the world is sufficient for all people in the world but fairness in welfare distribution and food consumption is needed.
